The goal for this project was to create a board game that incorporated chemical reactions. The requirements were that we needed one single replacement reaction, which in our case, was also our lighting of an L.E.D, a double displacement reaction, and production of a gas. We were given about a month, give or take, to complete this project.
Our Board:
For the theme of our board, we decided to go with Toy Story. After seeing another group who incorporated the idea of Andy's room into their project, our group saw that and decided to combine our boards to make one complete game, with ours being the opposing side, "Sid's room." Together, we created the game, "Andy's Coming."
Below is a document containing our set up, rules, reactions, and some of our initial ideas that eventually became our finished product.
Our Build Log: 11/30 - finalized rules, put legs on board 11/29 - started rules, discussed chemical reactions, decided layout of the two boards 11/26 - outlined squares, discussed game play between both groups 11/15 - finished touching up paint on board, decided theme, merged with Andy’s Coming group 11/14 - painted path, fixed background paint 11/12 - painted background, finished drawing path 11/9 - discussed board layout, drew path

Reflection
This was a very fun project to work on. It reminded me a lot of the Rube Goldberg machine in the sense that we had a lot of leeway to take the project in whatever direction we wanted. I was lucky to be placed into a very productive group with a lot of great minds. That was one of our strengths, or peaks, that we were able to get a lot of different ideas out. However, this did lead to a bit of a pit, because there were so many ideas, it was difficult for us to organize them. This was especially prevalent when our group merged with another, and then there were 8 people trying to work together. A peak that emerged from this large group was that we were very committed and were able to divide up the work in a better and more organized fashion. Finally, one last peak that arose was lack of communication due to having so many people. The biggest thing I learned about myself was that I need to make more of an effort to put forth my ideas. I noticed that my team members performed better when we weren't afraid to lay out all our ideas out on the table. Overall though, this was a really enjoyable learning experience.
